Prayer for children returning to school

As children return to school, parents have a powerful opportunity to support them through prayer. This spiritual practice can provide comfort, guidance, and strength for both parents and children during times of transition and challenge. Praying for our children demonstrates our love and commitment to their well-being, while also inviting divine wisdom and protection into their lives.

Regular prayer can help alleviate parental anxiety and foster a sense of peace. It allows us to entrust our children’s futures to God and acknowledge that there are aspects of their lives beyond our control. By praying for our children’s lives, academic success, emotional resilience, and social relationships, we invest in their holistic development and reinforce our connection with them.

Are you looking for ways to pray for your children?

Here are some Scriptures and prayers we hope will help equip and encourage you.

SCRIPTURE:

Psalm 68:19-20
Blessed be the Lord,
    who daily bears us up;
    God is our salvation.

PRAYER:
Lord, I pray that my children would understand their need for Jesus and rejoice in the good news of the gospel.

SCRIPTURE:

The tongue of the wise commends knowledge,

Lord, I pray that their teachers would be wise and gentle.

The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing,
    while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.

Lord, I pray that they would work with diligence and put forth their best efforts.

Psalm 139:14
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
    my soul knows it very well.
PRAYER:
I pray that you would free them from the pressure of trying to be like everyone else by instilling in them the confidence to know that they are uniquely made by you.

SCRIPTURE:

The ear that listens to life-giving reproof
    will dwell among the wise.
Whoever ignores instruction despises himself,

PRAYER:
I pray that they would receive correction well.

SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 145:11-12
They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
    and tell of your power,
to make known to the children of man your[a] mighty deeds,
    and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
