We are excited to share with you that Lakes Church is launching its 6th new campus in August. The new campus will launch August 11, 2024 with a new en Español service at 10:45 on the Auburndale campus. They will be meeting in the student area at the Auburndale Campus.

Pastor German Rivas will be the new Auburndale en Español Campus Pastor. With more than 22 million people in the state of Florida, statistics show Latinos make up the second largest ethnic group in the state, so we are looking forward to seeing all God does in and through this new venture. Pastor German took some time to answer some questions to help us get to know him better.
Please welcome, Pastor German Rivas!
Where are you originally from?
I was born in Honduras.
How long have you lived in Florida?
I have been living in Lakeland, Florida since July 2022.
Tell us about your family and what you love so much about them?
My wife Maria and I will celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary this November 19th. We have five grown children, four girls and one son, and have 12 grandchildren – nine girls and three boys. What I love most about my family is the fact that we remain close, and everyone is intentional about making the effort to get together often.
When/how did you know God was calling you into ministry?
I realized that God was calling me into ministry in 1986 in Gretna, LA. The pastor mentored me and helped me attend New Orleans Baptist Seminary. I’ve pastored two churches for a total of 25 years and God blessed those congregations.
Do you have a favorite Scripture and why?
My favorite Scripture is Hebrews 10:9-10. The whole book of Hebrews is my favorite, but this passage I love because it speaks of about our sanctification brought on by Jesus’ sacrifice once and forever. We are no longer under the fear of judgment when Jesus becomes our Savior.
What excites you about this new Spanish Campus in Auburndale?
I am excited about the work in Auburndale because of the need to reach the Latino population there. I have researched to see how many Latino churches there are and have not yet found one. This affords us the opportunity to really make an impact.
