As another semester of Moms of Lakeland begins, there is a joyful sense of anticipation at Lakes Church. This ministry is more than just a morning out—it’s a sacred space where moms with children from newborn through high school gather for friendship, encouragement, and truth from God’s Word.
Emily Dick first came to Moms of Lakeland three years ago after receiving an invitation from Tiffany Burgner, the lead pastor’s wife. Having just moved to Florida from Georgia, Emily was craving community and decided to give it a try.
“When I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted with the biggest smile and a warm hug from Mrs. Cheryl Shaffer, a sweet Mentor Mom at the time,” Emily recalls. “I remember thinking, this feels like home.”
Looking back, she recognizes that the feeling of home was Christ in Cheryl—and it’s that same spirit that continues to define the ministry. As this year’s coordinator, Emily expresses it best: “Our greatest desire is for every mom who walks through the door to feel loved, welcomed, and—most importantly—to see Jesus in us.”
“Motherhood can be both beautiful and incredibly challenging,” shares Tiffany Burgner. “I remember feeling more alone than ever as a young stay-at-home mom. Looking back, I truly wish I had a group like this during those years.”
Rooted in Scripture, Moms of Lakeland offers Bible studies, worship, testimonies, and guest speakers—all designed to equip moms to grow in faith. Whether you’re a first-time mom or raising teens, you belong here. We can’t wait to see what God does this semester!
